There are fruits to avoid during pregnancy. During pregnancy,
a mother should not only take care of the child but also take proper care of
her health.
At the time of
pregnancy, we go through various hormonal changes and our body starts adapting to external factors as well.
Doctors recommend eating a plenty number of fruits & vegetables. But some fruits are not at all advisable for pregnant women.
Fruits to avoid during pregnancy
1. Papaya:
Though papaya
is rich in Vitamin A, and Vitamin C but intake of papaya during pregnancy is not
wise. As it contains latex and latex creates a blockage inducing early
contractions.
2. Grapes:
The consumption of grapes is harmful to the baby & the mother. It generates heat which may
lead to certain complications or miscarriages.
3. Bananas:
Bananas are
not recommended for women with Diabetes. It contains an adequate amount of
sugar, which may affect the health of the baby.
4. Pineapple:
Pineapple
contains enzymes like Bromelain which may soothe the cervix inducing early
labor pain. So, during pregnancy
pineapple should not be consumed.
5. Bitter Melon:
Bitter melon
contains components like marodicine, quinine, etc., and it gets easily absorbed into
the body. This leads to rash, nausea, and pain in the abdomen.

Fruits to eat during Pregnancy
1. Orange:
The citrus
fruit helps in keeping hydrated during pregnancy. Orange keeps both mother
& baby healthy.
2. Avocados:
These are rich
sources of vitamins like vitamin C, vitamin B, and vitamin K.
3. Lemons:
This acts as magic for nausea, constipation, etc. Lemons can be consumed in form of soup, tea, etc.
Apple:
Apple is rich
in protein and fiber. This will nourish the health of the mother and the infant.
4. Berries:
Consumption of
berries triggers the making of RBC which nurtures the health of the mother and
the baby.
Dos and Don’ts
There are Dos
& Don’ts for everything; even if some fruits are allowed during pregnancy
make sure you wash them properly before consumption. Some fruits may not be
useful during the first trimester but may be needed during the second trimester of
pregnancy. It is important that the right kind of nutrient reaches the baby.
